Born in 2333 on the planet Ferenginar, Quark and his brother Rom were raised by their parents Keldar and Ishka.  All his life Quark has been a true Ferengi, greedy and money hungry.  He follows the rules of Acquisition to the letter.  However, on occasion Quark has been known to waver from those rules and do selfless acts.
    Quark owns a bar and the Promenade of Deep Space Nine, he has owned his bar since the Bajoran Occupation.  When the Federation took over Deep Space Nine, Captain Sisko had to beg and bribe Quark to stay on the station, Sisko offered Quark free rent.
    Through his life, Quark, has had many dealings with high Ferengi, but he has also had his business license revoked as well (later reinstated).  Quark's mother continually insists upon earning money and counseling the Grand Nagus Zek in business transactions.  Under Nagus Zek's command, Quark became the first Ferengi to open business deals in the Gamma Quadrant.  Though not as well off as his cousin, Quark has found a very profitable living on Deep Space Nine.
