| In this episode, a Vulcan captain named Solok,
who had been using Sisko to prove that Vulcans were better than Humans,
challenged Sisko and his crew to a baseball game. Sisko accepted
the challenge feeling that he had to win because Captain Solok was using
his game to beat him. Sisko, within two weeks, managed to teach the
crew (who most had never played baseball before) how to play the game.
In the process of the practicing, Rom was kicked off the team by Captain
Sisko because he was terrible at the game. In the end, Sisko realized
that it wasn't whether he won of lost but how he played the game.
Realizing this, Sisko substituted Rom and we witnessed Rom score the first
point for the Niners in the game. But it was too late for the Niners
to catch up and the Vulcans won. But the crew of Deep Space Nine
manufactured a triumph and saw Solok show emotion.
This episode was quite slow at times, but entertaining and funny. Had this not been the last season of Deep Space Nine this episode would have been a welcome change of pace. But since we are so close to the end of the series, I felt that this episode merely took up valuable time. Reviewed by: Andrew Luby
